Since publication is the culmination of study, it is everyone's duty to do it. It is anticipated that scholarly publications would provide a thorough and ongoing record of research. Publications have an impact on not just the research community but also, indirectly, society at large since they serve as the foundation for both future research and the implementation of results. Therefore, it is the duty of researchers to avoid selective or confusing reporting and to make sure that their publications are clear, accurate, comprehensive, and honest. Additionally, journal editors are accountable for preserving the credibility of the body of research literature; these duties are outlined in companion rules.
This paper attempts to define responsible research reporting practice and to set worldwide standards for writers of academic research publications. The adoption of these criteria by research organizations, financial backers, and professional bodies, as well as their promotion by editors and publishers, would hopefully help with research integrity training.
